Featured on Style Me Pretty California today!

January 26, 2012

I shot an amazing wedding in October for a really fun couple and I have yet to blog the wedding. But, today it’s being featured on Style Me Pretty California so I wanted to share.

Thanks so much to Gather Events for designing such an amazing wedding at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu for Heather & Lewie. It was such a pleasure to photograph and I look forward to sharing more from this wedding very soon!

Seal Beach Wedding Photos – Heather & Eugene

January 23, 2012

Heather & Eugene’s was my first wedding of 2012 and it was a great way to start off the year. So much fun, tradition and celebration- it was definitely an event that celebrated the joining of not just two people, but two families. Since I haven’t been posting many shoots in this slow season (and as I prepare to launch my new blog and portfolio site) I wanted to post a lot from this wedding. Here are all of my favorites from the day!

And click here to see their engagement session we shot back in May of last year.

Eugene is a Captain in the Army so he proudly wore his uniform. Loved.

The First Look.

Heather looked stunning.

Two of my favorite images from the day.

Heather & Eugene and I made sure to schedule plenty of time for portraits before the ceremony, so we had plenty of time to experiment with light…

… and to explore the grounds of their venue a bit.

When there’s a sword at a wedding, you just have to take advantage…

The ceremony.

A few more portraits in more pretty light right after the ceremony.

Then it was time for the traditional Korean PaeBaek Ceremony. I have shot this type of ceremony once before and absolutely love the tradition. The clothes and everything are so colorful, and it’s just a fun, important, long-lived tradition in the Korean culture.

Possibly my favorite part of the whole ceremony is when the groom gives his bride a piggy-back ride around the ceremonial table.

And then he gives one to his mom… :)

The wedding party.

The first dance.

Congratulations, Heather & Eugene!

First Wedding of 2012 – A Sneak Peek

January 13, 2012

When there’s a sword at a wedding, you just have to use it for photos.

As I mentioned before, the blogging will be pretty slow around here until my brand new blog launches in a few weeks. Until then, I hope to be posting Sneak Peeks and other miscellaneous things. :)

Happy Friday!

Heather Kincaid Photographer on Facebook!

January 7, 2012

Did you know I have a Facebook Page for my photography? I’ve actually had this page for a while but really made it a priority in the last half of 2011. It’s such a great way to connect with clients and to share my work. I love posting Sneak Peeks over there for clients to see and often do so even before I have the chance to blog them here. So, if you’re on Facebook (and who isn’t these days?) I’d love if you’d visit my photography Facebook Page and give it a “Like.” It’s so fun to connect with blog readers, clients, prospective clients and other photographers and wedding vendors that way and I’m looking forward to utilizing it even more in 2012!

Here’s a Sneak Peek of a photo that just makes me happy. I actually posted this Sneak Peek on my Facebook page a while back, but it never made it to the blog. This full wedding is being saved for the brand new blog and site design I have launching soon!

My Thoughts on an Amazing Year and My Most Memorable Images of 2011

December 31, 2011

This year has taught me so much about life, love, creativity, business and balance. It’s one of those years in my life that will serve as a milestone and that has truly proven just how much one’s life can change in just 365 days. It has been simultaneously the busiest, most stressful, most successful, happiest and best year of my life.

First and foremost, this year has been an incredible year for me personally having fallen in love with and married the love of my life. One day, I was totally happy being single- working and focusing on my businesses and what I wanted from life. Quite literally, the next day I had met this amazing person who changed my idea of happiness and from then on I knew that I didn’t ever want to experience anything without him by my side. I know I have yet to do a full post about our wedding, but I hope to do that early in the new year. It was definitely one of the best days of my life and I’m looking forward to sharing more about it. :)

Professionally, this has been the best year yet. I exceeded many of the goals I had for my company and even started a secondary company with one of my best friends (I will be posting more about that in 2012). I shot so many amazing weddings this year for clients who understand and appreciate my vision and approach to photographing weddings, which makes my work even more creatively fulfilling. I also photographed some great commercial and studio sessions- accomplishing another goal of mine to build up the commercial side of my business, which I hope to continue to do next year. Finally, I am almost ready to launch a brand new Web site and blog- something I’ve been wanting to do all year and finally made time for in the past month or so. This new design is so much more me and I can’t wait to unveil the whole new look hopefully by the end of January!

Looking back on this year truly makes me smile, but I smile even bigger when thinking about 2012 and all I know it has in store for me, and everything I have yet to find out. At this time last year, I could never have guessed what 2011 would bring to my life, and I know 2012 has just as much potential to surprise me in amazing ways.

I have never posted a full “Best of” post before because I always found it so overwhelming to go back through all of my photos and select my favorites. So, this year I did something a little different. The below images are images that for some reason I remember the most. They all are images that made an impression on my mind and lingered in my memories… and they are all images that flash in my head when I think about the images that creatively define my 2011. They are in completely random order- and some of the sessions featured haven’t even made it to the blog yet. So many images from this year linger in my head, so I created this collage rather than posting them all individually. Seeing them all together like this makes me smile and I hope you enjoy viewing them, too.

Here’s to reflecting back on a great year full of lessons, love & laughter- and here’s to hoping that 2012 brings the same! Happy New Year, everyone!! xoxo
