Bel Air Bay Club Wedding Photos: Lauren & AJ

August 30, 2010

I had been looking forward to Lauren and AJ’s wedding ever since we got together late last year to photograph their awesome engagement session (Part I and Part II). I knew it was going to take place at a great venue, with a great coordinator, lovely details, and I knew Lauren and AJ were going to be fabulous… the makings for a perfect day. Here are a bunch of my favorites from this lovely day! (Click here to see my favorites from their “Photobooth” I posted a few weeks ago.)

Venue: Bel Air Bay Club

Event Coordination & Design: Beth Helmstetter Events

Florals: Holly Flora

Dress: Monique Lhuillier

The First Look:

The BEST reactions happen during First Looks. :)

A favorite.

A funny moment brought to you by the groomsmen.

Lauren & AJ brought the fierce!

So beautiful.

A big, fun wedding party.

Some of the awesome details of the Bel Air Bay Club and those designed by Beth Helmstetter. Classic, organic, fun and elegant.

I loved the look of of these lanterns lining the aisle. They brought a slight rustic feel to the classic setting.

The amazing view from the ceremony site.

The ceremony. Look how happy Lauren and her dad are walking down the aisle. Priceless moments.

This little boy was full of great expressions! :)

Married!!

The rings:

Beautiful, elegant, tonal reception details- perfect for this space. And I loved the texture of these table linens!

Holly Flora really created some amazing arrangements- I loved the layers and richness that was created by using so many different types of flowers all in the same color.

A creative approach to naming the the signature cocktails.

An awesome dancefloor battle between the best man and maid of honor. :)

The Grand Exit complete with sparklers. :)

Thanks to my friends Amanda and Mike for helping me out on the wedding day!

Lauren & AJ- Congratulations and I wish you both all the best! xoxo

Backyard Wedding: Amie & Nic

August 16, 2010

I always love getting to go up to Northern California every chance I get. Actually, I just love getting to venture out of LA from time to time no matter where I go, but I especially love traveling up north for weddings because it allows me to have fun shooting while at the same time giving me an excuse to get together with friends and family who live up there.

I was happy to join my friend Chris to help shoot Amie and Nic’s great backyard wedding near Stockton, CA a few weekends ago. The wedding was held in the big, beautiful backyard of Nic’s family home- we were graced with some great light which made for some great photos. :) Here are a few of my favorite shots from the wedding, which just happen to be mostly portraits of the happy bride and groom. :)

Amie looked gorgeous. She was obviously a happy bride.

Nic looking handsome…

As often as possible, I like to experiment with different types of shooting… Here I was experimenting with pockets of harsh light and really love the result.

I loved these red trees that were on the property!

The First Dance:

The party was a part-tay.

Amie & Nic- Congratulations! Wish you all the best! :)

A Wedding Photobooth and Featured on Glamour.com

August 10, 2010

I wanted to quickly share some of my favorite images from Tawnny & Bob’s wedding Photobooth. This was a fun par-tay!

I think this is one of my fav Photobooth shots ever. :)

I also wanted to share a fun experiment that I tried with photos from Tawnny & Bob’s wedding- it’s a stop-motion video of a full wedding using images straight out of the camera (no retouching or post-processing). This idea had been in my head for a while, and Tawnny & Bob’s wedding was the perfect wedding to use for the experiment… I had posted it on Facebook and a few days later it was picked up by Glamour.com’s wedding blog Save the Date. I didn’t expect this to go anywhere… but the response has been so great I plan on experimenting more with this concept in the future!

Eternity Yacht Newport Beach Wedding: Tawnny & Bob’s Wedding!

July 29, 2010

I had been looking forward to Tawnny & Bob’s wedding for quite a while, and their wedding day did not disappoint! They were so obviously happy to be getting married that day- their energy, their smiles, the way they looked at each other- plus the fact that they were so willing to trust me with the photos- made for the perfect, fun day on Electra Cruises Eternity Yacht in Newport Beach, CA.

Tawnny wore a lovely Maggie Sottero gown- I adored the floral shoulder wrap!

Because we didn’t want to only do portraits on the yacht, we schedule plenty of time before we boarded to get some really great photos of the bride, groom and wedding party. I couldn’t get enough of these bricks!

Bob was looking super handsome… and I loved his orange tie!

First look expressions are the BEST!

I loved this parking structure!

Loved the vibrant pink and orange bouquet.

We took a few more minutes before the ceremony to do some portraits on the yacht. I loved the sassy garter and fence net stockings!

Gorgeous day to be floating around the bay.

Tawnny put on this amazing birdcage veil just before the ceremony. Loved this look.

Super happy to about to become a Mrs.

The ceremony…

I have known Bob for more than 10 years now and I, along with all of the other people observing the ceremony, were blown away with Bob’s amazing vows to Tawnny. They were sweet, sincere, funny, and perfect. Behind my camera, I got a little teary realizing how happy Bob was to be Tawnny’s husband.

A few more portraits… :)

The First Dance.

Bob and Tawnny- I am so very happy for you and am so glad I could be there to document your wedding day and to join in the celebration! I wish you all the best and can’t wait to see what life has in store for you. xo

Bel Air Bay Club Wedding: Lauren & AJ’s Photobooth!

July 7, 2010

I set up a very fun Photobooth at Lauren & AJ’s wedding I shot at the beautiful Bel Air Bay Club a few weeks ago. My favorite images from the wedding will be posted sometime soon. In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite images from the par-tay!

There were so many fun people at this wedding… Lauren and AJ have some awesome friends and family!

Can’t resist a good glasses Photobooth shot.

Thanks to the fabulous coordinator Beth Helmstetter, we had these little chalkboards as props… such a fun idea!

AJ’s parents recreating a photo from their wedding day. :)

Sassy bridesmaids!

I didn’t tell them to write this… I promise. But, I love them for it. ;)

Rah!

I loved that Lauren & AJ brought along the record player and records we used in their engagement session for the Photobooth. :)
