Los Angeles Portrait Photographer: Kristin Taylor – A Taylor Made Wedding

January 28, 2010

Kristin Taylor is the fabulous woman behind A Taylor Made Wedding, an Orange County wedding coordinator with such a great, vibrant personality and style. I was so happy to go down to Orange County last weekend to take some portraits of her for her new Website and marketing materials that are currently in the works. Last week, the storms here in California were just crazy, so we were lucky to get a super gorgeous day for this shoot!

How cute is Kristin?? She worked it. And the light after all of the storms was superb.

It was fun to incorporate a few props into this shoot. I loved that she had Emily Post’s Etiquette book  just sitting on her desk in her office… every planner should own a copy.

We had a little fun with this awesome black and white striped ribbon… wedding planners always have extra ribbon laying around.

Kristin’s younger sister Chelsea (aka Choo Choo, as I learned during the shoot ;-) is Kristin’s main assistant, so we got a few photos with her as well.

I had a great time shooting the two ladies together. I have a younger sister and loved seeing the bond that these two have- I can relate to it. :)

They both had the greatest laughs!

December 12, 2009

Here in LA, we’ve been experiencing some awesome rainy days…. finally. I took advantage of the change in weather and went out and did some shooting yesterday. Thank goodness my sister was willing to join me. Love her. :)

Los Angeles Kids Photographer: Sisters

November 28, 2009

I love how being around kids makes me look at the world in a different way. Their questions about the simplest things in life make me reconsider why things are the way they are, which is really refreshing and interesting. They’re joyful, positive and embody possibility for the future. It’s for all of these reasons that I truly love to photograph children. It’s, in many ways, much more challenging to photograph a child because most of the time they have their own ideas on how to pose and behave during a photo session. But, when you get a shot that is truly reflective of their growing personalities, it’s so great. I posted a Sneak Peek image last week of this session. Their aunt left me the most flattering comment I can ever hope to receive as a portrait photographer, especially as a kids portrait photographer: “You captured their relationship in one picture.”

The relationship between sisters is very dear to me as I have one sister who is my best friend. These girls already have such a great bond… I hope I was able to capture that and that I can continue to document their lives as they grow older.

Seattle Photo Sessions: Darienne’s Senior Portraits

August 21, 2009

My last photo session I had scheduled in Seattle was a senior portrait session for the lovely Darienne. Danielle, Darienne’s mom, contacted me about doing some really fun portraits of her daughter to commemorate her senior year of high school which will begin in just a few weeks.

I remember this time in my life: preparing for the last year of high school and thinking about life after graduation was so consuming. It really is a special time in a person’s life and I look back at my senior year with fond memories.

Darienne is so smart, sweet, beautiful, stylish and totally knew how to rock the camera. She chose all of her own outfits for the shoot, all of which I absolutely loved. It was so great to be able to photograph her and really highlight her personality all around Olympic Sculpture Park and Pier 70 in Seattle. During the shoot we talked a little about high school and what she plans to do after she graduates in June. I only spent about an hour with her, but in that short time I learned that Darienne is a very speical young lady and will no doubt accomplish many great things in the years to come. I was honored to have been asked to photograph some fun portraits to celebrate her Senior year and all that it has in store for her.

A favorite from the session. Loved this wall, the colors, her eyes… everything.

See what I mean by Darienne rocking the camera? She needed no direction at all! She plans to be a lawyer or doctor some day, but she’ll be the most photogenic lawyer or doctor ever.

This one is especially for Danielle.

She’s got such a great laugh and smile… could light up a room.

I have to thank Danielle for pointing out these tree shadows. LOVE.

Love the color even more.

Finally, we wanted to document how Darienne looks on a daily basis– rocking her “Rent” sweatshirt with her iPod on. Love it.

Darienne– You are amazing! I wish you all the best in your Senior year and would like to offer you a little advice: Study hard, but don’t forget to have so much fun and enjoy yourself! :-)

Happy Friday, everyone! Speaking of high school, come back soon for an awesome wedding I photographed for one of my high school friends!
