Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Photos: Morgan & Christian

August 19, 2011

I met up with Morgan & Christian for their engagement session in Downtown Los Angeles last week. Downtown is a great place to shoot- pretty, reflected light, fun textures, and interesting backgrounds. Here are some of my favorite images from our afternoon together.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Venice Beach Engagement Photos – Heather & Lewie

July 29, 2011

Heather & Lewie have one of the best stories of how they met. She had just boarded her Southwest flight from Chicago (where she’s from) back to LA. She was all settled into her seat excited to have an empty seat next to her for some extra space in the cozy airplane cabin. Just before taking off, Lewie boarded the plane (admittedly a bit late) with his McDonald’s in tow and found an empty seat next to a lovely brunette. He had been visiting Chicago with some friends and was on his way home, but barely made it to the plane on time. She was a little bummed to lose the extra space. He was stoked to have not missed his flight…

Over the next few hours, thousands of feet up in the air and surrounded by hearts with wings, Heather & Lewie had their first conversation which sparked something special…

It sounds like something straight from the movies, or at least something that was made up for a Southwest Airlines commercial… it just couldn’t be more fitting for an airline company whose branding includes a heart.

They live near Venice and both enjoy skateboarding and the relaxed Southern California lifestyle so they knew Venice was the perfect location for their engagement session. Here are my favorite images from their session. :)

Lewie is pretty tall.

There really isn’t an explanation for this, but it’s funny either way.

Heather & Lewie – I had so much fun with you and can’t wait for your wedding in October!

Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Photos – Sherry & Mike

June 22, 2011

As a portrait photographer, my goal is to always take photos that show my clients looking relaxed and comfortable in a stylized way. Sherry and Mike are two people that made my job incredibly easy… they brought amazing energy to their engagement session and as a result we got photos that I think truly capture their personalities and love for one another.

We started the session in Downtown LA, which could possibly be one of my favorite places to shoot in LA. I love the light, the textures, the tones… everything. And Sherry wore an amazing dress making this shoot that much more fun. :)

Then, for a change of scenery, we headed up to Griffith Park. I knew of this amazing spot but knew it would require Sherry & Mike to hike up there with me. Luckily, they were up for the hike and we were able to shoot in the perfect light with an amazing view of Los Angeles.

Sherry & Mike – You are amazing! Thanks so much for a great afternoon and I’m now looking forward to your wedding even more!

Los Angeles Engagement Photos – Lisa & Blake

June 20, 2011

It had been quite a while since I had met with Lisa & Blake at our initial meeting, so it was really great to get to see them again and spend some time hanging out in Venice and Santa Monica. Even though it was a little bit of a drizzly, overcast afternoon (what’s up with this weather, SoCal?) we made the best of it and still had fun. Here are a few of my favorite images from their engagement session.

I’m pretty sure this is my favorite image from the whole session. :)

Can’t wait for the wedding in October!

Santa Monica Engagement Session – Teresa & Kevin

June 8, 2011

I met up with Teresa and Kevin at the Oceana Hotel in Santa Monica to kick off their engagement session a couple weeks ago. Teresa and Kevin are so sweet and so much fun – I had a great time with them and am looking forward to their wedding in October! Here are my favorite images from their session…

For the second part of their session, we headed down the street to the Santa Monica pier for more…

How cute is Teresa’s top? Loved how the colors went with the colors of the pier!

They’re a cute couple… :)

Happy Wednesday!
