Colony Palms Hotel Wedding – Palm Springs – Nicole & Taro

9.29.11 | Wedding Photos

I knew I liked Nicole and Taro from the moment I met with them late last year. They are laid back, funny, creative, and just totally the kind of people with whom you know you’d like to hang out. Nicole is a fine art photographer who does really cool landscapes and portraits, so the stakes were quite high for me going into this wedding. Photographing for

another photographer always makes me feel a little nervous, but Nicole made my job so easy by choosing a great venue, working with an incredible coordinator, being super relaxed and simply letting me do my thing. It was an awesome day in the desert for a wedding, and thanks to some help from my 2nd shooter for the day Heidi, we got so many great shots that this blog post is going to be a little on the long side.

Also, Nicole & Taro chose to have a “Photobooth” at their wedding. Click the link to check out their Photobooth photos. :)

Venue: Colony Palms Hotel – Palm Springs

Coordinator: April Seuss of The Bride and I

Flowers: Artisan Events Floral & Decor

I loved the simple, classic, sexy dress by Nicole Miller. So perfect.

Heidi grabbed these photos of Taro getting ready. Love them.

The netted veil, fascinator and bold vintage-style earrings… I loved it all! Nicole, you looked so beautiful.

The First Look. Always such a sweet moment.

Taro chose to wear a navy suit as opposed to the standard black. Super dapper.

We loved exploring the grounds of the Colony Palms. So many cool nooks and crannies!

Two of my favorite images from the day. :)

I loved the idea of using album covers to label the tables.

Nicole spent hours folding paper cranes to hang from the ceremony arch. In the Japanese culture, the paper crane symbolizes good fortune and tradition says that folding one thousand paper cranes is said to bring one good fortune or a long life.

The ceremony was officiated by their good friend and it was so sweet, beautiful, personal and funny. Just how a ceremony should be in my eyes.

When you have a reception poolside, you can expect people to jump in… in their clothes. It’s just going to happen. :)

Nicole and Taro decided to put their suits on, too, making for the perfect nighttime, poolside photo shoot. :) LOVED.

A major favorite.

Nicole and Taro – Thank you, thank you for asking me document your day. I’m so happy for you both and wish you so much happiness for your present and future!

I couldn’t be happier, these images look fantastic. Thank you Heather. My only regret is not having you there the entire weekend; it would have been worth it.

Incase anyone is wondering my fantastic hair and make-up were done by the talented Emily Hudspeth http://www.emilyhudspeth.com/Home.html – she travels and she is well worth it.

Los Angeles and Santa Monica Engagement Photos – Amber & Brad

9.22.11 | Engagement Photos

Amber is from California, Brad is from Australia. Five years ago they were both on vacation in Thailand and happened to meet one night in Bangkok. Since then, they’ve had a long-distance relationship, lived together in England, now live in Australia and are planning a wedding in Las Vegas next year. Talk about a worldly couple! Since they live all the way down under, Amber booked me completely over email. The first time I “met” her was over Skype a few months ago, and I knew I liked her right away. I was so excited to finally meet them in person a couple weeks ago here in LA while they were in town on vacation and get started on the wedding planning. We had so much fun.

We started the shoot at LACMA where they have this awesome Urban Light Sculpture. I love shooting there. And how amazing is Amber’s dress?? I loved the color!

Fierce.

Then we headed down to the beach near the Santa Monica pier for a few California beach shots.

One of my favorites from the whole day!

Amber and Brad- I had so much fun working with you and getting to know you both a bit! xoxo
