Los Angeles Portrait Photographer: Kristin Taylor – A Taylor Made Wedding

January 28, 2010

Kristin Taylor is the fabulous woman behind A Taylor Made Wedding, an Orange County wedding coordinator with such a great, vibrant personality and style. I was so happy to go down to Orange County last weekend to take some portraits of her for her new Website and marketing materials that are currently in the works. Last week, the storms here in California were just crazy, so we were lucky to get a super gorgeous day for this shoot!

How cute is Kristin?? She worked it. And the light after all of the storms was superb.

It was fun to incorporate a few props into this shoot. I loved that she had Emily Post’s Etiquette book  just sitting on her desk in her office… every planner should own a copy.

We had a little fun with this awesome black and white striped ribbon… wedding planners always have extra ribbon laying around.

Kristin’s younger sister Chelsea (aka Choo Choo, as I learned during the shoot ;-) is Kristin’s main assistant, so we got a few photos with her as well.

I had a great time shooting the two ladies together. I have a younger sister and loved seeing the bond that these two have- I can relate to it. :)

They both had the greatest laughs!

San Francisco Wedding Photographer: Jen & Donny’s Wedding!

January 21, 2010

Jen & Donny had a city wedding in San Francisco last weekend and I had so much fun traveling up there to photograph it.  I always love traveling to Northern California for any reason- it has such a different feel from Los Angeles and I love capturing that in images. Here are some of my favorite images from the day. Thanks to Meg for helping me on this wedding, the very first wedding of 2010! It’s going to be a great year. :)

Click here to see the engagement session I shot with Jen & Donny last summer.

Getting ready at Hotel Whitcomb

While I went with the guys, Meg stayed with Jen and the girls and got these great shots of Jen getting ready. Love the feel of these shots.

Jen and Donny rented a motorized trolley to get to and from and from the church. What an awesome idea for a San Francisco wedding! I rode with Donny and the guys to the church while Jen was still getting ready– it was a cold ride with interesting guy conversation… but I got some great shots.

Loved that Donny decided to wear cowboy boots with his tux!

After the ceremony, the whole wedding party rode on the trolley back to the hotel for the reception… Love this shot of Jen!

Great view of the city from the trolley… such a cool city.

We stopped in front of San Francisco City Hall for some portraits and group photos. We were so thankful it didn’t rain!

Today, I am 25. :)

January 14, 2010

Today, I am 25. To me that seems like quite a milestone in life. Everyone keeps telling me, “Congratulations! Now you can rent a car without the extra fees.” While I really do find that exciting, especially because I plan on doing much more traveling this year than in previous years, what I find most exciting about this age is finally being able to live in the present. As I was growing up, I was one of those kids who was always thinking and planning for the future- thinking “When I’m older, I’m going to_____.”

Wham! All of a sudden I’m older! :)

So, I have marked this year as the year I will start to do a lot of those things I always told myself I’d do “when I’m older.” I will be working so hard on my photography and my business, but I’m also going to make time to do things in the present, instead of planning to do them later.

Here are just a few of those things I’m determined to do this year:

Go skydiving. Run a 5k. Go on a road trip to at least three new states. Get involved with a charity. Start a personal photography project. Learn to shoot a gun accurately.
Take some yoga classes. Put my new mountain bike to good use. Host a dinner party where I cook all of the food. Shoot a session with film. Read a classic novel or two.

I bought myself an Instax Mini 7s (an instant camera much like the standard Polaroid) for my birthday and I’ve been having some fun with it. Here are some of the shots I’ve taken so far with it. I’m still getting used to it, but I’m thinking it’s going to be such a fun thing to have on some shoots once I get the hang of it!

Okay, 25. Bring it on. :)
