I was so so happy to help Meg Perotti photograph Carly & Chris’ vintage/Mad Men inspired wedding in Palm Springs back in October! Carly and Chris are such a fun, stylish, sweet, amazing couple and it was such a pleasure celebrating with them for the whole weekend at the Orbit In, a really great little mid-century hotel that really feels like old school Palm Springs.
I loved Carly’s shoes by J.Crew! So perfect for that pop of color.
The details around the hotel were perfect.
Carly is stunning everyday… but was especially striking as bride on, most obviously, the happiest day of her life.
A netted veil just for a few photos. Swoon…
The details were so meticulously planned. I absolutely LOVED the bridesmaids bouquets designed by Carly’s sister-in-law. I absolutely fell in love with the pop of orange with those grey fuzzy leaves! Anyone know what those leaves are called??
Love the photo of the the Rat Pack on the wall in this one. It kind of looks like Carly is trying to mimic Sammy Davis Jr., but she was just laughing and enjoying the company of Chris, like always.
Bright colored walls always make me happy.
A favorite with a little off-camera lighting…
Their cake topper was one of the best I’ve ever seen!
The first dance.
Carly and Chris- It has been so amazing sharing all of these special moments with you along the way. I’m so glad to have been able to tag along with Meg to help document your amazing wedding! I wish you all the best now and in the years to come.
Earlier this week, I posted the first part of Lauren & AJ’s engagement session shot at Union Station. It was the perfect setting for a more formal, vintage-inspired shoot. However, when I met with them for the first time, they also mentioned how they really loved the idea of taking photos in a field. I immediately started thinking about how we could style a field to have a little of that mid-century inspiration they love.
I had so much fun preparing for this session! Thanks to Lauren and AJ for providing the initial inspiration and for giving me creative freedom to make it a reality!
Lauren had this fabulous connection that allowed us to explore a massive warehouse of fine antique furniture here in LA. When she and I saw these turquoise 1950s Eames chairs, we both immediately fell in love and were able to borrow them and that table for the shoot!
AJ picked out the flowers for the table the morning of the session… how perfect that they match the orange on Lauren’s dress and contrast sooo perfectly with the chairs. Oh, how I love that color palette.
Cracker Jacks are special to Lauren and AJ and the story of their engagement, so we had to incorporate them into the shoot a little bit..
I want this chair for my place.
The phone is from my mom’s collection of vintage pieces. It’s handy to have a mom as a collector of fun vintage pieces when planning shoots like this. The record player was AJ’s idea- he tracked one down at a vintage shop and Lauren was even thinking about incorporating it into their wedding in June since they both love music from that era.
I adored these old records they brought along! To anyone planning an engagement session… props are always fun and provide so much inspiration!
Lauren- you are so beautiful.
Hard to believe this exists in Los Angeles!
Lauren & AJ- I had SOOOO much fun with you both! Thank you, thank you for letting me go crazy with this… your wonderful relationship and personalities were a great inspiration to me. I’m so looking forward to your wedding!
When I first met with Lauren and AJ, I knew we were a perfect match. I wholeheartedly believe that a photographer and his or her clients should share a vision– a vision for how their photos should look and feel and a vision for how to best portray the relationship of the clients through images. It’s my job as the photographer to creatively guide a couple so that the images that result are the best they possibly can be. I am always creatively inspired by the story of the couple: their likes, hobbies, history, style… When we first met, Lauren mentioned a love for the vintage feel. We took that idea and ran with it… it was a collaborative effort to find the best hairstyle, wardrobe, locations and props. It was so. much. fun! We did two parts to the shoot so I’ll be posting them separately.
First up, we went downtown to Union Station. It was the perfect setting for part of their vintage-styled shoot.
I was in love with Lauren’s shoes! So perfect for a pop of color.
From the Sneak Peek. Special note: My mom has been collecting vintage train cases for the past few years. She really loves them and I’m so glad I could make them famous and include them in this fun session. They were perfect! Thanks, Mom.
AJ was looking very dapper.
And Lauren was just so hot – she rocked it.
Lauren worked her negotiation skills to get access to an area of the station where nobody is supposed to go. Thanks so much to that very kind security guard for letting us beyond the barricade!
Love this one.
And this one is my favorite… that light coming through those windows… come on!
