Thanksgiving AND Featured on Brenda’s Wedding Blog!

November 30, 2009

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Mine was really great getting to be home with the family for a few days. I helped my sister make a pumpkin pie and it turned out to be the best pumpkin pie I have ever had. Ever. And that’s not just me being biased because I helped make it… It really was the best. :)

We spent a lot of time cooking, eating, talking and watching movies together. I even went to see Fantastic Mr. Fox which really was fantastic. Such a great weekend away from work and spending some quality time with my awesome family, but now it’s Monday morning and I’m loving being back to emails, editing, album designs, print orders… My excitement to be back to work just reminds me that I really did choose the perfect career for myself and I’m so thankful that it’s going as well as it has so far. Looking forward to an even better 2010!

I was really good at not working this weekend… I didn’t even really touch a camera- though my mom took plenty of photos for all of us! I do love to include photos on every post though… so here’s one I took with my iPhone of a tree in my parents’ front yard. (Taken with Best Camera app and sharpened for Web.) I love Fall!

Los Angeles Kids Photographer: Sisters

November 28, 2009

I love how being around kids makes me look at the world in a different way. Their questions about the simplest things in life make me reconsider why things are the way they are, which is really refreshing and interesting. They’re joyful, positive and embody possibility for the future. It’s for all of these reasons that I truly love to photograph children. It’s, in many ways, much more challenging to photograph a child because most of the time they have their own ideas on how to pose and behave during a photo session. But, when you get a shot that is truly reflective of their growing personalities, it’s so great. I posted a Sneak Peek image last week of this session. Their aunt left me the most flattering comment I can ever hope to receive as a portrait photographer, especially as a kids portrait photographer: “You captured their relationship in one picture.”

The relationship between sisters is very dear to me as I have one sister who is my best friend. These girls already have such a great bond… I hope I was able to capture that and that I can continue to document their lives as they grow older.

Temecula Wedding Photographer: Melissa & BJ’s Wedding! Part II

November 24, 2009

Melissa & BJ had a beautiful Fall-inspired wedding at Temecula Under the Oaks. I had such a fun time shooting their portraits in this totally amazing woodsy setting. Click here to see Part I of their wedding day. So looking forward to shooting another wedding or session sometime soon in a nature setting like this one!

Temecula Wedding Photographer: Melissa & BJ’s Wedding! Part I

November 22, 2009

Melissa and BJ are just that kind of perfect couple you see and say to yourself, “Wow. They were made for each other.” I met Melissa in college back in 2003-ish and have always known her to be kind, genuine, lovely and such a positive presence. When she called me earlier this year to tell me she was engaged, I was so happy for her and knew that this guy had to be pretty special in order to win her heart. I wasn’t able to meet BJ until the wedding day, but I quickly saw that Melissa had chosen the right man to spend the rest of her life with. She absolutely glowed when she looked at him, and he looked back at her with equal admiration and adoration.

Their wedding was a true celebration of two great families and groups of friends being united by a wonderful couple. It took place the beautiful Temecula Under the Oaks. This venue was SO much fun because it in no way felt like it exists in Southern California. I was so inspired by the woodland landscape and can’t wait to shoot in more places like this. Plus, Melissa & BJ were SUCH amazing models… Heidi and I had so much fun shooting their portraits because they had no hesitation doing the quirky things we asked them to do in this amazing setting. :) Thanks so much for your help, Heidi! You rock.

Here is the first part of the day. Part II will be posted soon!

The dress in this awesome setting. Seriously… LOVE this place.

BJ has an awesome sense of humor! He actually convinced his Best Man Shane that he was going to be wearing this bright pink vest and tie while the other guys got to wear brown! Shane was such a good sport about it, but was visibly relieved when he heard it was just a joke. :)
