I love the Wedding Chicks blog and am so excited that they decided to feature Mike and Raci’s lovely ranch wedding today! They absolutely loved all the details that were put together by Raci and Mike. Click here to see the feature! Click here and here to see my blog posts about the wedding.
There was a great article on LAStyleUnveiled.com today about wedding traditions- the history behind them and what they mean to today’s brides and grooms. I don’t typically make these kind of posts, but I thought the article was really interesting and even answered some of my own questions about where wedding day traditions originated.
I especially loved this passage at the end of the article written by Orange County wedding coordinator Jesi Haack:
“We are unique, quirky, and truly individualistic beings who will always be striving to make our own mark in the world. Ask yourself, “What STATEMENT do I want to make to my guests?” … And make that statement from YOU, not from your mom, your grandma, or any website you have been stalking. Do something different. Be unique. Surprise your guests. Create something unexpected. Do the opposite of tradition. Create your own tradition. Be remembered for YOU.”
Kristen and John had a beautiful Terranea Resort wedding in Palos Verdes a few weeks ago. The weather is so unpredictable there on the cliffs of Palos Verdes: the day started off hot and by the ceremony it was windy and super cloudy. But, we all made the most of it and were able to get some great photos after the ceremony when the clouds decided to part.
Thanks to Kim Fox for referring me to this wedding, and thanks to Meg for second shooting with me for the day!
The Terranea Resort has the most beautiful views of the Palos Verdes bluffs! Loved these purple flowers lining the cliffs, too.
I love shooting at Terranea and think it’s a beautiful resort. LOVE this last shot with that little sail boat in the distance.
So, I’m sometimes a total geek. I love New Media and technology topics. I love reading Wired Magazine and staying up-to-date on all of the latest technology trends. I got my Master’s in Communication at USC a couple years ago and my favorite classes were the classes that discussed how New Media was changing entertainment, business and life for everyone. It’s all so exciting to me and I’m not ashamed to admit it. The other night, I went to a Los Angeles photographer meeting because the topics being discussed were SEO (search engine optimization) and Social Media… both very interesting topics to me as a consumer and as a small business owner. Someone mentioned this video so I watched it on YouTube as soon as I got home and found it really interesting. If you’re on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or if you’re a fellow blogger I think you’ll find this video really interesting and gives perspective to just how much of an impact social media will continue to have on our lives. Even if you’re anti all that is social media, watch the video! It’s fascinating.
Last night I seized the opportunity to visit Disneyland with my good friend Laurel for just a few hours to experience the Disney Halloween for the first time. Though I live in LA, I am probably able to count on one hand the number of times I have been to Disneyland… I went a couple times as a kid and then went in April for the first time since I was 12. Even so, Laurel and I spent more time attempting to get that perfect jumping shot than going on the rides. We went on Haunted Mansion (which had an amazing overlay of The Nightmare Before Christmas!), Small World and the Tea Cups. That’s it. But we still had a blast roaming around the park and playing with off-camera flash…
