Happy Halloween and Random Photos

October 31, 2009

Happy Halloween! For some reason I feel like Halloween should already be over– think it’s because of all the random festivities I’ve been attending the past week or so. Anyone with me on that?

Yesterday, I felt the need to get out and take some random photos around my neighborhood in Los Feliz. Every once in a while I like to just shoot for no reason at all. I try to look at ordinary things I pass on the street every day in a new way. Here are some of the random things I saw. I had absolutely no goal or predetermined theme for these images. They are completely random objects I passed on my walk down Vermont Avenue.. they have no rhyme or reason and I totally dig that.

Vintage-Inspired Wedding Industry Halloween Party

October 28, 2009

Last night I went to one of the most fun wedding industry networking parties I’ve ever attended. A Very Vintage Halloween Bash was sponsored and organized by my friends Yelena of Stylish Soiree and Meg Perotti Photographer along with some other truly fabulous wedding vendors including Contemporary Catering, Carissa of JL Designs, Mint Photo Lounge, and Sweet & Saucy Shop. The party was complete with amazing details, amazing food and desserts and really fun people in really fun costumes. I love being part of such a vibrant, fun, and creative industry!

Here are some amazing photos I stole from Meg’s blog that she took of the lovely vintage-inspired party details! The styling of this party was just fabulous.

I only brought along my little point-and-shoot and so I was only able to take these less-than-stellar images. Top left: Meg and her fiance Tim. Tim’s costume as Kenneth the page from 30 Rock was a favorite of the night! Top right: Meg and me. Bottom: Meg, me, Jennifer Jasso and Christine Ciszczon.

Temecula Wedding Photographer: Jessica & Eddie – Temecula Creek Inn

October 26, 2009

Jessica and Eddie had a beautiful wedding at the Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula, CA. So much work went into this wedding by their family and it was great to see all of it come together for the wedding day. The weather was fantastic, all of the details came together smoothly and everyone had an amazing time at the party. All in all, it was a truly perfect day an awesome, fun, loving couple.

I loved these shoes! I’m a sucker for funky, fun wedding shoes.

Jessica’s eyes were so striking… they make these portraits that much more fabulous.

Fabulous bouquets… loved the black calla lilies accented with the pink roses.

Eddie was looking very handsome… loved the all black look with the white tie, topped off with the all black classic Vans.

I loved the way they implemented the red, black and white theme with the damasque accents and pops of deep pinks and purples in the floral arrangements.

The ceremony.Quentin, the ring bearer, was clearly in awe of the bride. :)

Side note: I was referred to Jessica and Eddie by Jessica’s grandmother Cheryl who is one of my students in the Photoshop class I teach one day a week. I love Cheryl! She took my introduction class about a year ago and now she is one of my advanced students. It is so great to see how much she has learned- she even was able to put to use some of her skills for the wedding details! She helped so much with this wedding and I was so happy to be able to spend some time with her outside of class. :) Here we are toward the end of the reception…

Painting Pumpkins

October 23, 2009

Halloween is just about a week away! I was always one of those kids that figured out my costume pretty much the day before Halloween. I was really bad about planning in advance… and that really hasn’t changed! This year, however, I have two Halloween parties to attend next week and so I felt the pressure to figure something out ahead of time. I’m still trying to put it all together… we’ll see if my vision actually comes to fruition. More on that later…

Earlier this week I went to a friend’s pumpkin painting party to get into the Halloween spirit. I do love to carve a pumpkin, but it tends to get pretty messy, so a bunch of us got together and had some fun painting pumpkins. I painted three, all with crazy faces. Here is one of them… I didn’t mean for her to look so sad or worried, it just turned out that way because it’s been a while since I’ve touched a paint brush!

In other news, yesterday was my sister’s birthday…  Happy Birthday, Hayley! We are going out with the family tonight and I’m planning on taking photos, so I hope to post those soon if we get some good images. :)

I’ll leave you with this photo Meg got of me at the last wedding I shot with her in Palm Springs a couple of weeks ago. (It was an AMAZING wedding… can’t wait to post those images very soon!) I was rocking out while we were testing the light for the Photobooth… and well… here’s what happens when you do that with Meg behind the camera…
