Diana & Jacob: Married! – Los Angeles, CA

July 20, 2009

June was a busy, busy month for me. I thought July was going to be a little less hectic…. but with editing all of the shoots from June, and moving to a new place in Los Angeles, that’s proving to not be the case. And now, July is practically almost over! Seriously… where does the time go? When I was younger, I would often hear my mom say, “There just aren’t enough hours in the day.” As a kid, I had no clue what she meant, but as I get older I realize more and more that she was totally right. Time flies by so quickly and there is just so much to do in a day! You know what I mean?

One of the weddings I shot in June I second shot with Meg in the Los Angeles area of Hancock Park at a beautiful private home. Diana was marrying her beloved Jacob in a beautiful, heartfelt traditional Jewish ceremony. The evening was beautiful and I just love these images I was able to capture of their very special celebration.

The guests were greeted by this cute sign right outside the property.

Diana is STUNNING! I realize I use that word a lot to describe brides… but I mean it.

dj_blog_02

That Vera Wang gown was gorgeous. I love this style of gown! P.S. Diana needed no direction for these shots… she’s just naturally that fabulous.

Jacob was looking mighty nice himself.

Is it cheesy to say that I think Diana looks more fierce than this lion? Yes? Oh well… I said it. ;-)

During dinner and the rest of the reception, my main duty was to man the photobooth. I LOVE doing this at receptions… It seems like everyone feels a little more comfortable being silly and fun when there’s a portrait light and white backdrop involved. Here are a few of my favorites.

Congratulations, Diana and Jacob! You both were so wonderful and I wish you all the best. :)

Erin & Steve: Married! – Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

July 16, 2009

Erin and Steve were married in Erin’s grandmother’s backyard in June. It was a lovely estate in the great neighborhood of Rancho Palos Verdes, the perfect setting for a small backyard wedding and the party that followed! Meg asked me to shoot this wedding with her and we defnitely had fun together getting creative and documenting the crazy reception party. :)

Erin and Steve are fabulously chic and stylish and had a really fun, special wedding day. Here are some of my favorites!

The beautiful dress!

Here’s a shot of Meg shooting the wonderful Jasmine doing her thang with the makeup. I helped Meg shoot Jasmine’s wedding last Fall and it was really good to see her again! Click here to see Jasmine’s wedding. :)

The guys had a different idea of how to get ready for the wedding day… ;-)

The boys recreating the scene from Reservoir Dogs on the way to the ceremony. These guys were quite entertaining.

Meg called Steve very “dapper.” Isn’t he, though?? Love the gray suit.

My favorite shots from the reception. Erin and Steve did a great job making sure the party was a par-tay! They bought all kinds of fun props, making it really fun to photograph. ;-) I also loved taking advantage of the hedges covered in twinkle lights as a backdrop to the dancing photos! So fun!

Such a great celebration! Congratulations!

Sarah & Jon: Married! Terranea Resort – Rancho Palos Verdes

July 14, 2009

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting Sarah & Jon’s lovely wedding at Terranea Resort and Spa in beautiful Rancho Palos Verdes. This resort is brand new and it is phenomenal. Sarah & Jon actually had one of the first weddings to ever take place there, which I think is pretty cool!

The skies were quite cloudy and overcast, but that didn’t stop Sarah & Jon, along with their family and friends, from having a great time. Here are some of my favorite images from the day.

First up, I was a bit early to the ceremony, so I took a moment to grab this shot of the view from the side of the road. How amazing is that?? California really is spectacular.

The ceremony was held at Wayfarers Chapel, just down the road from Terranea Resort.

The whole chapel is made of glass and is really quite striking.

Then I headed over to Terranea just down the road for some detail shots. This venue still looked gorgeous despite the cloudy skies. Can you imagine it on a beautiful, clear day?

These kids were having so much fun throwing rose petals from the centerpieces on the cocktail tables. I love how kids can have fun with things as simple as rose petals. :)

Lindsay & Sean: Engaged! – Beverly Hills, CA

July 11, 2009

Sean and I are from the same hometown and have known each other for quite a while now. It was coincidence that we both ended up at USC Annenberg for grad school a couple of years ago which gave us the opportunity to reconnect. Earlier this year I found out he was engaged to Lindsay and I was very honored that they asked me to be their photographer.  A couple of weeks ago I met up with them at a park in Beverly Hills and we had a good time running around shooting in the awesome Summer evening light. Even though Sean wasn’t exactly excited at the thought of a photo shoot, he was a trooper!

This is a favorite right off the bat!

Annie & Joe: Married! – Part 2 of 2

July 8, 2009

Here is Part 2 of Annie & Joe’s fabulous wedding at Lake Oak Meadows in Temecula, you can see Part 1 here. I loved shooting the bride and groom portraits because Annie and Joe are so funny, sweet and energetic. I adored shooting the fabulous details because they were so exquisitely chic, simple and lovely. And I had a blast shooting the dance party because all of the party people were so much fun. Here are some of my favorite images of all of the above events. :)

The details at this wedding were so simple and chic! I loved every understated element and thought they complimented the venue and the feeling of the wedding so well.

See how fabulous all of these little touches are?? How cute are those hand-written chalkboard signs mixed in with all of the handcrafted floral and paper elements?

The sign that reads “Get Leckie” is my personal fav as Leckie is Annie’s new last name! So clever.
