Sam & Justin: The Slideshow

June 13, 2009

I used post slideshows more frequently, but haven’t posted one in quite a while. Since I loved Sam & Justin’s fun, colorful engagement session so much, I thought I would start with that. :)

A Trip to San Francisco!

June 9, 2009

A couple of weekends ago I had the opportunity to go to San Francisco. I was born and raised in Southern California and, until recently, had only been to San Francisco and the Bay Area a couple of times. To be honest, I didn’t really love the area the first time I visited several years ago… but after exploring it a little bit more, I realize I really do like Northern California. The main purpose of my venture into the city was to meet with a prospective client. But since I always like to take advantage of opportunities to explore unfamiliar territory, I brought my camera along to document some of the city.

Ashley & Tim: Married! • Castle Green – Pasadena, CA

June 5, 2009

A few weekends ago I had an AMAZING time shooting Ashley & Tim’s wedding at Castle Green in Pasadena, CA. For one, I already knew Ashley’s family having photographed her sister Amber’s wedding last September. It’s so nice to get to know the families of my clients and be able to work with them on more than one occasion. Second, Tim’s family was just as fabulous as Ashley’s. Third, Ashley and Tim are caring, kind and fun people and made every effort to make their big, special day fun and special for everyone. Fourth, Ashley wore RED pumps and a netted veil with feathers! … I could go on and on…. ;-)

There are so, so many photos in this post so I’ll just get to it. Thanks to Edmund Prieto for helping me out on this one. :)

Tim- the handsome, happy groom.

Hello, gorgeous! Ashley looked absolutely stunning! And check out that awesome bouquet.

The feathery, sparkly netted veil. So chic…

These two shots are so representative of Ashley. I was trying desperately to get some simple smiling portraits, but she couldn’t keep from laughing because Tim was cracking jokes on the sidelines. I love these images for that…

Castle Green is a great venue… a historic, beautiful building with pretty grounds and great architectural details surrounded by Old Town Pasadena.

On the left, this is Tim letting out a huge breath as he saw Ashley for the first time walking down the aisle with her dad. Loved this reaction! It was immediately followed by a giant grin.

Amber fought back the tears nearly the whole ceremony.

It was a beautiful ceremony led by Tim’s good friend and former roommate. I love when the officiants are close friends or family.

This is Michael, Amber and Ashley’s older brother. As you may recall, he was serving in Kuwait and couldn’t make it to Amber’s wedding last year, so it was great to finally meet him. The families were so happy to have him here and I thought he deserved a special photo mention. Plus, check out that bow tie! Fantastic.

at_blog_33

Finally, I stole the couple away from the reception for a few minutes to do some photos in this great old school elevator in the lobby. I love this shot for a million reasons.

Ashley & Tim — I am so happy for you guys! I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing how beautifully your life together develops.

Sam & Justin: Engaged!

June 2, 2009

I had SUCH a fun time shooting Sam & Justin’s engagement session a couple of weekends ago at Balboa Park in Encino, CA. I had no idea this park even existed… and even though it was SUPER crowded being Memorial Day weekend and all, we had a great time walking around the park, talking and, of course, taking some fun, colorful photos.

When I met up with them at the park, they looked so stylish and colorful I just knew we were going to get some great photos.

Sam brought along this book that both of their moms happen to own, so she was given one as well. Love that special Tiffany blue mixed in with all of the other colors… especially the red on the soles of those Louboutin pumps. ;-)

Then we managed to track down an ice cream truck! After a not-so-quick and slightly complicated wardrobe change for Sam, we had a lot of fun with ice cream and this awesome striped truck! I just love this shot of Justin on the right.

I could not have staged that look from the ice cream man any better! ;-)

This shoot was all about color! But, I happened to like the black & white feel of this one.

Couldn’t resist this shadow shot as a finale. :)

Sam and Justin — You guys were SO much fun! I cannot wait to shoot your wedding in August!
