Jill & Dan's Wedding!

November 23, 2008

Jill and Dan were married at the lovely Miramonte Resort and Spa in Indian Wells, CA (very near Palm Springs). They had an amazing celebration thanks to Laurie and her staff from The Events Department, and of course Hillary, my good friend and catering manager at the Miramonte. The details were fabulous, the guests were lively and the whole day was just a blast. Thanks to Hayley for helping me out on this one — it’s always a good day with her around.

This wedding was actually my last scheduled wedding of the year! It’s been quite the wedding season. I’ve had the best time working with all of my clients this year and now I’m looking forward to having a few weekends off, shooting more portraits, as well as working on some other projects I’ve wanted to get started. I hope to even set up a just-for-fun shoot with models, hair, make-up — the whole nine yards — where I can really experiment with different technique. Any one interested in modeling?? :)

Anyway– on to the many photos of this fabulous wedding!

Here’s Jill getting ready with the help of her Maid of Honor.

Hayley and I had some fun with the rings and the props they had for the photo booth. I can’t decide my favorite between the two.

Jill & Dan's E-Session: A Preview

November 14, 2008

Jill and Dan got married last weekend, but I have yet to post their engagement session because we shot it so close to the wedding and right smack in the middle of my crazy October-November schedule. So, here’s a preview of their engagement photos. The rest will be posted soon!

Twilight: Slightly Obsessed

November 12, 2008

I just stumbled upon this music video and because I’m obsessed with the Twilight saga, I thought I’d share it. :)

Sure, the books were probably written for teenage girls, but I know a whole bunch of 20-somethings who are completely dazzled by the books and are all getting together next Friday (opening night) to see the film together in LA!

Meg and I were lucky enough to see the movie already — she has a connection that got us invited to a screening with the director when the film was still in the rough stages of editing. In LA, it’s all about who you know. It was actually quite embarassing at first since the other people who were invited were all young girls between the ages of 8 and 14!

After the movie, we spent some time talking to the director about the film– choices they made in the screenplay adaptation of the book, editing choices, and what it was like working on the movie. It was an incredible experience. We even got to talk to her about our impression of the movie. The whole experience was even more interesting to me because while I was in grad school at USC, I thought I wanted to get into the film marketing industry.

Here’s my iPhone photo of us in the screening room.

Needless to say, I cannot wait to see the movie in its final state. :)

Oh, Edward…

Happy Veteran's Day!

November 11, 2008

I think of myself as being quite patriotic and have always been supportive of the men and women who serve our country. I was out with friends last night for Monday Night Football and they were hosting a salute to the Marines where we were. I got a little choked up listening to the stories of the Vets and seeing all the men and women in uniform. One woman there was 90 years old and first entered the Marine Corps in 1943! She had a great story.

If you’re a Veteran, thank you. If you know a Veteran, tell them I said thank you.

Today, I hope we all take a moment to thank a Veteran for their service. :)
