Joslyn & Jason: Malibu, CA

October 28, 2008

A couple of weeks ago, I shot Joslyn and Jason’s wedding in Malibu for Kim Fox Photography. What a great, simple, laid-back wedding! Joslyn and Jason currently live in Colorado, so having a Malibu wedding was a destination wedding for them, and I was more than happy to photograph this special event.

Once again my sister Hayley joined me for this shoot and did an awesome job. I so love having my sister around on shoots. :)

Onto the photos!

Joslyn had her makeup done by Veronica Sinclaire –malibumakeup.com — who did an awesome job and was very sweet and fun.

I loved how the hairstylist incoporated these flowers into Joslyn’s up-do.

Joslyn and Jason were staying in this bungalow in Malibu for the week. Not only did it have an awesome view, it had stunning light and great, vibrant colors. Perfect for a getting ready location!

Quite possibly my favorite photos of the whole day! How gorgeous are Joslyn’s eyes?

The flowers were done by Diva’s Flowers of Santa Monica.

Here’s Jason’s beautiful daughter Aspen. While Joslyn was getting ready, I took her outside for some fun photos with the amazing view. I loved how she got to wear a veil of her very own. It made her feel very special. :)

The ceremony was a quaint gathering on Point Dume State Beach.

Since it was short and sweet, everyone just gathered around and stood during the nuptials. Loved it.

After the ceremony, Jason, Joslyn, Hayley and I hung around on the beach for portraits.

I prompted Aspen to go chase after the birds for a shot, and Joslyn decided to join her

Tillman: The Ultimate Nugget!

October 28, 2008

My great friends Hillary and Jeff recently added a little one to their family and I had the pleasure of visiting them all this weekend. His name is Tillman and he is the ultimate nugget. In my vocabulary, a nugget is anything that is small and super cute. These photos will show why he is the ultimate…

I love this series!

Thanks, Hill and Jeff for hosting me this weekend! I can’t wait to come back and see Tillman! (…and you guys of course :) )

Laurel!

October 23, 2008

A couple weeks ago, my good friend and totally awesome artist Laurel asked me to take some portraits of her for her new Web site she is designing. Of course, I jumped at the chance to photograph her because I knew it would be a good excuse to get together and have fun. So we came up with a concept of a warm, natural, desert kind of feel for the shoot. Laurel is a super vibrant and fun person, and her artwork is the same. But, she is also very intellectual and sophisticated, so I tried to capture all of those elements of her personality.

Here’s the image I posted in the preview post. Definitely a favorite of the entire shoot.

Love the classic feel of this antique loveseat.

Laurel, don’t kill me for posting this. :) This was just a moment in the shoot where I felt we needed a little energy pick-me-up. This was never a series I thought I would do anything with (except for maybe blackmail Laurel in the future…) but I think it’s so funny. So, I’m posting it and hoping that Laurel will still call me a friend. :)

LOOOVE this one. So classically beautiful.

A different perspective…

Including some of the artwork…

She is famous for her jumping shots. I don’t know anyone else who can get that kind of height in heels!

laurel_blog_10.jpg

Crazy-beautiful eyes. I think she looks very mischievous here.

laurel_blog_11.jpg

Love the light!

And finally… a series that really deserves a good explanation, but I just can’t think of one. I guess it’s just what happens when you mix a seatless chair, two friends, a camera, and a little too much creative energy?

Love you, Laurel! Wish we could do a shoot like this every week!

…Since I have posted some of my portraits of Laurel, I thought I would share a portrait she did of me last Fall. :) Love it!

Happy Birthday, Hayley!

October 23, 2008

Yesterday was my sister’s bday and with all the celebration (and the work I had to do in between) I didn’t get the time to post a b-day message to her.

So, Happy Birthday, Monk! I love you!

Here’s a photo of Hayley and me at a friend’s French Party (hence the berets) from back in July where I set up a fun photo booth of sorts. It’s awful that this was one of the only recent photos I can find of us together! I’m adding that to my list of tangible goals for the next month– more photos with my sister and family!

Joslyn & Jason: A Preview

October 19, 2008

Because I’m sometimes a scatter-brained blogger, I’m going to post a couple images from the fabulously simple wedding I shot yesterday in Malibu even though I know I have yet to finish other posts I’ve started. I’m hoping to get it all sorted out this week… :)

Joslyn and Jason’s wedding was awesome. I can’t wait to share the rest of the images from this special day.

The ceremony took place on the beach at Point Dume. It was simple and perfect. Not a bad place to spend a Saturday afternoon!
