An Exciting New Project and Mandee & Doug's Slideshow

April 12, 2008

Hey everyone! I don’t have a shoot this weekend, but I am on my way out to meet with Meg to talk about and plan a very exciting joint venture that we are going to be announcing in the not-so-distant future! We are both so very excited about this new project and cannot wait to share it with everyone!

For now, enjoy a slideshow from Mandee and Doug’s wedding last weekend. :)

Family and Poppies

April 11, 2008

I am the oldest of 8 grandchildren on my mom’s side of the family and growing up, all of us cousins were very close, especially the five oldest girls — Hayley, Maribeth, Krisanne, Laura and Me. We have many fond memories of birthday parties, holidays and just playing in our grandparents backyard, building forts and having ’secret club’ meetings.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. The sun was shining, the sky was clear, the wind was calm and the poppies are in full bloom here in the Southern California desert! It was the perfect day for a short drive out to the poppy fields with Hayley, Laura, Maribeth and our Grandpa. Because Maribeth is in the Army and stationed in Hawai’i, and Laura has been going to college in Iowa, it’s a rare occurrence that we get together with our Grandpa for a visit, so we wanted to make it special. Unfortunately, Krisanne is in Alabama going to school so she wasn’t able to spend the day with us. But, I know she reads this blog… Krisanne, I want you to know you were missed!

For some reason, being in a huge field of poppies makes everyone want to jump.

Mandee & Doug’s Wedding: Indian Wells, CA

April 7, 2008

Friday night it was really difficult to fall asleep because I knew I would be shooting Mandee and Doug’s wedding the next day. I felt like a kid the night before a big birthday party or a trip to Disneyland…

I had been looking forward to this wedding for a long time for many reasons, but mostly it was because I knew Mandee and Doug were going to be so much fun. I have talked to Mandee about this wedding so much, and have shot both and engagement session and a bridal shower for this couple, so I really did feel like I knew them as friends and was so excited to share their special day with them.

On top of that, my good friend Hillary is the Catering Manager at the Miramonte Resort and Spa in Indian Wells, CA, the site for Mandee & Doug’s wedding, so I was really looking forward to shooting a wedding she was managing. Plus, the Miramonte is absolutely gorgeous, and I knew I would have a lot of great places with great light in which to set up shots. What more could a photographer ask for?

The wedding was all I thought it was going to be. It was fun, sincere, emotional… and, man, did these people know how to celebrate! The bridesmaids were darling. I love those ladies… and the kids there were the cutest kids! So much fun.

My lovely, talented sister Hayley was my assistant for the day to help with equipment, run around to coordinate people and also to shoot. She got some great shots and I am so proud of her.

Here are quite a few shots that I chose to post… Warning: There are a lot of images here…. and a slideshow will follow in the next couple days!

The absolutely beautiful dress. Mandee sent me a picture of this dress a few months ago. I thought it was gorgeous in the photo, but it was 10x as gorgeous in person!

Shout-Out from Kevin at InHouse Creative Studios

April 4, 2008

Just wanted to write a quick Thank You to my good friend Kevin Ellison of InHouse Creative Studios. He was so kind to give me an unsolicited shout-out on his company’s blog, so I’m trying to return the favor. :)

InHouse is a great creative services company based in the Bay Area that, among other things, produces great video projects for huge companies including Whole Foods! Kevin and his fellow InHouse team members get to travel the country working on various creative projects… What a great gig! I’m always so jealous when I hear from Kevin that he’s on his way to Austin, or on his way home from a trip to New York and Chicago. Though I know frequent travel is not as fun or glamorous as it seems at times, I still love to travel and am always looking for opportunities to travel with my own work.

Go check out their site. They are a really interesting company and have a lot to offer in terms of creative product, event services and even insights into business philosophy.
